Al cumplir dos años de publicación de Alasbimn Journal sentimos que esta justificado mirar para atrás y analizar el camino recorrido. Como señala muy bien el Dr. Horacio Amaral lo que estamos celebrando es la Cuarta Etapa de Publicación de esta Revista, en su formato virtual actualmente, lo que ha permitido la supervivencia de nuestra publicación y su expansión a los cinco continentes. En efecto el número de visitas ha ido en crecimiento continuado estando en 1904 visitas mensuales en Abril 2000, que han bajado 9900 páginas mensuales. Este número de lectores nos da una base de atracción mucho mayor de la que tuvimos en los periodos anteriores. Así podemos establecer que la Medicina Nuclear Latinoamericana tiene con Alasbimn Journal una audiencia importante para exponer sus resultados, análisis de nuestra realidad y revisiones conceptuales. Los temas de interés abordados han sido mayoritariamente NeuroSpect en Neurología y Psiquiatría, Cardiología, Oncológica, Gastroenterología etc.

La alta calidad del material científico publicado esta avalado por un excelente Comité Científico Internacional que ha colaborado desinteresadamente con gran entusiasmo, dedicación y prontitud para evaluar, pulir, corregir y sugerir áreas de modificación lo que ha resultado como regla en una mejoría de la calidad y presentación de los trabajos. A ellos nuestros agradecimientos más sinceros. Sin su apoyo Alasbimn Journal no habría sido posible.

En este Número de Segundo Aniversario, #8, publicamos 2 Editoriales: Del Presidente de la World Federation of Soc. of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (WFNMB), Dr. Horacio Amaral y del Presidente de Alasbimn, Dra. Silvia Vásquez, que se refieren encomiásticamente a nuestra Revista. Publicamos dos trabajos de investigación, uno Oncológico del Dr. Omar Alonso y col. de Montevideo Uruguay y uno de Cardiología de la Dra. Sonia Merlano y col. de Bogotá Colombia. Además celebramos nuestro Aniversario con un trabajo de Revisión Oncológico sobre Cintimamografía y Ganglio Centinela del Prof. Iraj Khalkhali y col de UCLA, de California, USA y otro sobre Trastorno Obsesivo Compulsivo y NeuroSPECT del Prof. Galli de Lima, Perú. Publicamos además 2 casos Clínicos interesantes: uno sobre Trauma Cerebral leve y NeuroSPECT de la Dra. Ceballos y col. de Zaragoza, España y otro sobre Feocromocitoma del Dr. Jara Yorg de Asunción, Paraguay. Nos enorgullece que este Número Aniversario es una clara contribución latino americana, española y americana. Creemos por ello que los objetivos iniciales se están cumpliendo plenamente.

Deseamos en esta ocasión agradecer especialmente al personal de SISIB, Universidad de Chile que ha producido con alta calidad profesional Alasbimn Journal. Les estamos especialmente agradecidos por la prontitud y rigurosidad para cumplir las fechas de publicación de Alasbimn Journal.

Por último deseo agradecer el apoyo constante, irrestricto de la Sociedad Chilena de Medicina Nuclear y de nuestros patrocinantes industriales, en especial Amersham, Siemens y Lunar.

En esta oportunidad deseo comunicar a nuestros lectores el compromiso de apoyo de Alasbimn al Congreso Mundial de WFNMB que tendrá lugar en Santiago en Septiembre de 2002. Este apoyo se manifiesta por comunicación irrestricta de la información concerniente al Congreso y como se estableció en la Reunión ampliada del Comité Científico del Congreso durante el Congreso de SMN en St. Louis, Junio de 2000 con la publicación de la totalidad de los abstracts de trabajos aceptados para presentación en Santiago. Por ser este un Congreso conjunto de WFNMB y Alasbimn esta colaboración es más justificada y apropiada, como señalara la Dra. Silvia Vásquez, Presidente de Alasbimn.

SECOND ANNIVERSARY ALASBIMN JOURNAL

On the second anniversary of ALASBIMN Journal, it is advisable to look backward and evaluate the road we have followed.

Dr. Horacio Amaral in his editorial states correctly that we are celebrating the fourth stage in the publication of this Journal. By adopting a virtual format the publication of ALASBIMN Journal has survived and currently has expanded to the five continents. Furthermore the number of visitors has continuously increased, currently at a rate of 1,904 visits per month during April 2000. These visitors have downloaded 9,900 pages.per month. Thus, this number of readers is giving us a base of attraction that is much larger than the one we had in any of the previous periods. We can therefore state that LatinAmerican Nuclear Medicine has with Alasbimn Journal an important means to present its experimental results, analyze our reality and discuss scientific reviews. The subjects that have been published are in their majority NeuroSPECT, Neurology and Psychiatry, also Cardiology. Oncology, Gastroenterology, Quality Control etc. The high-quality of the scientific material we have published is guaranteed by an excellent international scientific committee. Their members have supported us with great enthusiasm, dedication and timeliness for purposes of evaluating, polishing, correcting and suggesting areas of changes for the different papers submitted. This has resulted as a rule in a much better quality and an improvement of the quality and format of the paper. We thank our international scientific advisory committee wholeheartedly for their support. Without their help ALASBIMN Journal would not have been possible.

In this second anniversary issue, number 8 we publish 3 editorials: the one of the President of the World Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (WFNMB) Dr. Horacio Amaral and the President of ALASBIMN, Dra. Silvia Vásquez, that have.positive comments with regards to our journal. We publish 2 research papers one Oncologic from Dr. Omar Alonso, from Montevideo, Uruguay and one of Cardiology from Dr. Sonia Merlano et al., from Bogotá, Colombia. Furthermore, we celebrate this anniversary with an Oncological review paper on Scintimammography and Sentinels node from Professor Iraj Khalkhali from U.C.L.A., California, U.S.A. and another one on Obsessive-compulsive disorders and NeuroSPECT from Prof. Enrique Galli, from Lima, Peru. Finally, we publish also Clinical cases on mild brain trauma and NeuroSPECT from Dr. Ceballos et al. from Zaragoza, Spain and another one on Feochromocytoma from Dr. Jara Yorg from Asunción, Paraguay.

We are proud of this anniversary number, that represents an excellent crossection of Latin American, Spanish and American contributions. We believe therefore, that the initial objectives are fully fulfilled.

We would like to take this occasion to thank specially the personnel from the University of Chile, SISIB its highly professional work. We are particularly thankful for the timeliness and rigorosity of complying with the deadlines of publication of ALASMBIMN Journal.

I would like to thank also the constant and unrestricted support of the Chilean Society of Nuclear Medicine and our industrial partners, in special Siemens, Amersham and Lunar. .

At this opportunity I would like finally to report to our readers the commitment of support from ALASBIMN to the World Congress of WFNMB that will take place in Santiago, Chile in September 2002. This support will consist of unrestricted communication of information concerning the Congress. Also, at the meeting of the Scientific Committee of the Congress during the Annual Meeting of SNM in St. Louis, June 2000 we reiterated the commitment of publication of all the abstracts of papers accepted for presentation in Santiago, free of charge, and this proposal was accepted. Because this Congress will be a joint Congress of the WFNMB and ALASBIMN this collaboration appears fully justified and time-warranted as it was stated by Dr. Silvia Vásquez, president of ALASBIMN.
