El comienzo del segundo año de ALASBIMN Journal está distinguido por nuestra contribución al mayor evento de nuestra Asociación, que es la celebración del Congreso Bianual de Medicina Nuclear, que está vez se celebrará en Buenos Aires, Argentina:

ALASBIMN 99, Octubre 24-28, el último congreso de Medicina Nuclear del segundo milenio.

Será esta una fiesta científica Latinoamericana en que se analizaran 295 ponencias de nuestro continente con contribuciones además de Europa, Estados Unidos, Japón e Israel. El formato se divide en 15 sesiones, las más robustas son la de Oncología, Cardiología, Radiofarmacia, Neuropsiquiatría etc.

Se demuestra así que la Medicina Nuclear en nuestro continente está plena de vitalidad y de inspiración creadora. Esperamos que los autores de los resumen que hoy publicamos, con el objeto de que puedan ser conocidos en el mundo y citados en otros publicaciones científicas, publiquen sus trabajos en nuestro Journal y podamos todos beneficiarnos de la vitalidad que se expresará en el Congreso de Buenos Aires. Los autores encontraran en su Journal un comité Editorial presto a ayudarlos a publicar rápidamente sus observaciones científicas, con alta calidad de expresión, inclusive imágenes en color sin costo.

Creemos que ALASBIMN Journal con su récord de publicaciones trimestrales puntuales, es una garantía para la rápida difusión de la información científica Sudamericana. En este V número de ALASBIMN Journal publicamos además el interesante trabajo de DARCOURT y colaboradores de la Universidad de NIZA,Francia sobre cuantificación de flujo cerebral mediante HMPAO Tc99m. Además publicamos un dramático caso de infarto agudo de tronco cerebral tratado exitosamente con trombolisis arterial y evaluado originalmente y en su evolución mediante NeuroSPECT.

Por último publicamos la información de los nuevos requerimiento para entrenamiento de Tecnólogos Médicos Nucleares en el estado Texas EE.UU., cortesía del Dr. Javier Villanueva Mayer que se publica como información importante para la definición de a política de educación en nuestro medio.

La preparación de este número de ALASBIMN JOURNAL ha contado con la ayuda eficiente de la Dra. Sonia Neubauer y la srta. Ximena Olivares a quienes agradezco especialmente.

Esperamos que este número sea una contribución significativa a la difusión de la Medicina Nuclear en los países de Asociación Latinoamericana de Medicina Nuclear ALASBIMN.

The beginning of the Second Year of publication of ALASBIMN JOURNAL is distinguished by our contribution to the most important event at our Association, namely the celebration of the Biannual Congress of Nuclear Medicine, this time it will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina , October 24-28, 1999: Alasbimn 99 will be the last Congress of Nuclear Medicine during the Second Millenium.

This will be a Latin American scientific celebration, we will analyze and publish in this issue 295 abstracts of papers originating in our continent, Europe, USA, Japan and Israel.. The format is presented in 15 sections, the most robust are Oncology, Cardiology, Radiopharmacy, Neuropsychiatry etc. This demonstrates that Nuclear Medicine in our Continent is full of vitality and creative imagination. We expect that the authors of the abstracts we are publishing today, in order to disseminate their contributions in the world and make them referable in other scientific publications, will publish their full papers in our ALASBIMN JOURNAL. Thus, their support will be mutually beneficial and all will benefit from the vitality that will be expressed in Buenos Aires. The authors will find in their Journal a supportive Editorial Committee, ready to help them publish their scientific observations rapidly, with high quality of presentation, inclusive color images at no cost. We believe that ALASBIMN JOURNAL with a track record of timely trimesteral publication is a guaranty for rapid dissemination of scientific publication in South America.

In this 5^th Issue of ALASBIMN JOURNAL we publish also the interesting paper of DARCOURT et al, from the University of Nice, France, now, on Quantification of Brain SPECT with HMPAO Tc99m by means of Xe133, we publish also a dramatic case of acute infarction of the brain stem treated successfully with arterial thrombolysis and demonstrated originally and during evolution by means of NeuroSPECT.

Finally, in this issue we communicate information on new requirements for Nuclear Medicine Technologists Training in the State of Texas, USA, courtesy of Javier Villanueva Meyer MD, as important information for the formulation of new educational policies.

This number of ALASBIMN JOURNAL was edited with the efficient help of Sonia Neubauer MD and Ms. Ximena Olivares I thank them wholeheartedly.

We expect that this issue will contribute significantly to the diffusion of Nuclear Medicine among the countries of the Latin American Association of Societies of Nuclear Medicine and Biology, ALASBIMN.
