Debemos estar presentes en Chile
Creo firmemente que la mejor y más efectiva manera de promover la medicina nuclear entre nuestros colegas es haciendo un buen trabajo en casa día tras día. Un servicio de Medicina Nuclear bueno y bien organizado será la mejor manera de demostrar en nuestro sitio de trabajo la importancia de la especialidad dentro de la Medicina contemporánea.. Al hacer esto podremos demostrar en la vida real el rol exclusivo que la medicina nuclear puede tener en el diagnóstico, tratamiento y cuidado de los pacientes enviados a nosotros por nuestros colegas. Otro método efectivo de promover nuestra especialidad en casa es asistir y participar activamente en las reuniones científicas del hospital y en los congresos científicos. En nuestro propio departamento podremos demostrar a los estudiantes y residentes cuan fascinante es la Medicina Nuclear enseñándoles las características de la especialidad y envolviendoles en la práctica clínica y además en proyectos científicos de investigación.
Ser el director del departamento de Medicina Nuclear significa tener y considerar todos estos aspectos y significativa también un gran esfuerzo y dedicación que son necesarios para ello. Por eso siempre he sentido una admiración fuerte por aquellos que además del trabajo en casa están dispuestos a ir un paso más y proveer el esfuerzo extra para dirigir otras actividades dentro del ámbito nacional e internacional de la Sociedad Científica.
Durante mi carrera profesional he tenido la posibilidad de conocer a varios de estos colegas que están dando a la Medicina Nuclear mucho más que su trabajo regular de rutina. Como un médico nuclear estoy profundamente agradecido a todos ellos. Por qué debido a personas como ellos es posible estar seguros de la aparición de la publicación oportuna de esta revista. Debido a personas como ellos ha sido posible seguir construyendo ALASBIMN después de las conferencias y otras actividades preestablecidas. Debido a personas como ellos será posible tener el próximo congreso de la Federación Mundial y de ALASBIMN en Chile. Y es de justicia reconocer el enorme esfuerzo y dedicación hacia la Medicina Nuclear que está siendo entregado por muchas personas para preparar el próximo congreso Mundial El programa que se ha preparado nos dará una oportunidad única para el intercambio de conocimiento y de experiencia entre la comunidad Latinoamericana y otras regiones del mundo. Como presidente de ALASBIMN llamo fuertemente a la comunidad de Medicina Nuclear Latinoamericana para contribuir con una participación masiva en este gran Congreso.
Tenemos la obligación de estar PRESENTES en gran Congreso de la Federación Mundial de Medicina y Biología Nuclear en Chile.

We can not miss Chile !!
I believe that the best and most effective way to promote nuclear medicine among our colleagues is by doing a good work at home, day after day. A good and well organized nuclear medicine department will be the best tool to show, in one´s workplace, the importance of our speciality in today's medicine. By doing so, we may be able to demonstrate, "in the real world", the unique role nuclear medicine can play in the diagnosis, management and therapy of those patients referred to us by our colleagues. Another effective way to promote our speciality at home is to attend and actively participate in hospital grand rounds and clinical meetings. In our own department we may also be able to prove to students and residents how fascinating nuclear medicine is by teaching them its particularities and getting them involved in clinical practice and scientific research projects.
To run a department and take care of all those aspects, a lot of effort and dedication are necessary. I always felt strong admiration for those who, besides the work done at their own place, are keen to go further and put an extra effort to drive other activities inside their national or international scientific societies.
During my professional life I had the possibility of meeting several of these colleagues who are giving to nuclear medicine much more than their regular homework. As a nuclear medicine physician I am deeply grateful to all of them. Because of people like them we have the assurance of the timely edition of this Journal. Because of people like them it has been possible to build past ALASBIMN meetings and activities. Because of people like them it will be possible to have the next WFNMB and ALASBIMN congress in Chile. It is a matter of fairness to recognize the huge amount of effort and dedication to nuclear medicine that are being given by so many persons in order to prepare the next world congress. The program they are preparing will be a unique opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experience between Latin America and other regions of the world. As president of ALASBIMN I strongly appeal to the latin-american nuclear medicine community to contribute to a massive participation in this meeting.
We have the obligation of not missing Chile.
